    The exhibition concept for “For We Are Kings” emerged through lessons from Affen’s late mother. She was a brilliant woman who taught him so many life lessons, including the understanding that we are all equal. We do not always need physical crowns to know that we matter. She taught him that “even kings bleed.” This exhibition is a love letter to black heritage and the passing down of lessons in love, joy, confidence, wisdom, and history.
